firstclass088 asked:

I have 3 opened credit cards. I have Capital One, Citi Card and Victoria Secret. I have just paid off my Capital One card but I really want to close it because since I paid it off and Im not using any of my cards I don’t want this one opened. I am also in fear that the company might try to charge me with some kind of fee or whatever. But I had it opened since March. Is closing it now a bad thing? Will closing this card mess my credit score up?

What can happen if a credit card company sues you when you had a third party supposedly paying the bills?

jill822 asked:

Today, my roommate gets a call from Chase Card stating that they are going to bring her to court. She has been making payments of over $100 a month to Consolidated Credit Counseling Services for almost two years and her debt was supposed to be almost paid off. I think she owed around $2400 or so. Chase tells her that the payments have been late or non-existent from CCCS and she still owes about $1900.
However, Chase gives her the option to pay $1500 now or they will sue her. My roommate doesn’t have $1500 readily available. She didn’t know that the bills wasn’t getting paid because no statements were coming. Also, nothing in writing came as a warning for the lawsuit. Chase said they sent it to CCCS, who never notified my roommate. Is there anything that she can do? Any suggestions?

Is a statement credit for a credit card only applied to a balance?

When a company offers a statement credit, does that amount appear on your card free for you to spend or is it only applied to an existing balance on the card?

In other words, do you get anything if you have no balance?

I dont have any credit and lots of student loans, I’ve never had a credit card. I wan tot build my credit, but no one will give me a credit card. Im stuck with this secure crap apparently. I opened one with HSBC but theyve had horrible customer service, losing my paperwork, making me jump through a million hoops, and worst of all taking more than 3 months to setup a simple card that is not even activated yet. Im fed up. Any other ideas?

College Credit Builder asked:

At www.goodstudentcreditcard.com you can compare the best student credit card offers currently available for college students.  A everyone knows, responsible credit card usage can lead to a lifetime of low-interest rate loan opportunities for auto loans, mortgages and other forms of consumer credit.  Notwithstanding that students tend to have a limited credit history and lower incomes, good students enrolled in colleges and universities throughout the country are often given the valuable opportunity to receive credit while still in school and to start building a credit record early.  This is an opportunity that should not be taken lightly, particularly in light of the persistent credit crisis which has made it difficult for many Americans with good credit records to receive new credit cards, auto loans and mortgages.

Student credit cards issued by Discover and Capital One are tailored for student applicants.  Some of the features offered by these credit card issuers include:

•           No Annual Fee

•           0% Interest for a fixed period of time

•           Cashback Bonuses

•           $0 Fraud Liability Guarantee

During this period of economic instability, illiquidity in the credit markets, uncertainty in the stock market, and the declining real estate market, one thing remains constant – good students should be given the opportunity to build a credit history.  Responsibility, however, is essential.  It is important to remember that if you don’t have enough cash to buy something now, you should consider saving up until you can.  Credit cards are most beneficial when you can afford to pay your balance in full every month.  Treat them like cash in your wallet.  In these tough economic times, where credit is proving to be more difficult to come by, it is important to establish a strong credit profile by obtaining credit early and maintaining a consistent payment history.  Student credit cards issued by Discover and Capital One are tailored for student applicants.

How can I get a credit card company to take something off my credit report?

rachelle171986 asked:

My credit card account is currently in good standing but in November of 2006 I was 60 days past due. Your credit report shows your payment history for 7 years so this is showing as a negative on my credit report. I’ve heard that you can ask the credit card company to take it off without doing a “hard pull” or something on your credit. Please help!!
