That has to be done via a court order. You had best go to a credit counselor. If they are way too high, you probably need bankruptcy protection and need an attorney.

Yes, but they must first take you to court and get a judgment then they can not only garnish wages (if your State allows it) but they can also attach bank accounts and file liens on any property you may own like cars, boats, land and homes.

Depending on your state yes they can. However, in order to do this they must first file a suit and get a judgment against you. This does not happen right away, at a minimum it is at least a couple of years before they will do this.
Until that time you can expect attempts to get you to pay from collection agencies. If you are having problems with the payments you need to immediately stop using the cards and work out a strict budget. You also should to contact a reputable credit counseling service. is a good site for information on this.

They’d have to sue you in court first, and get a judgement against you - if the do that (and they can, and if enough money is owed they will) then yes, they can garnish your wages.

I’d say they can’t - I hope I’m not wrong
they like to threaten to go to court all the time too.
I haven’t messed with credit cards in several years now, but when I did my debt was out of control and I never went to court or got sued even though the companies would call me weekly and threaten me with legal action.
I would suggest paying as much as you can, if you pay nothing you will mess up your credit beyond repair for a long time. call the credit card co. and let them know you’re having trouble making the payments - don’t duck them, it will only make it worse.
and stop using your cards
cut them bad boys up

Yes. They’re not likely to unless you owe a lot of money because there’s expense to taking you to court in your state. Most companies will work with you if you stay in touch. If you’re really a nurse, you should have a decent income. Set aside money for food, gas, rent, electricity (the stuff that HAS to be paid.) Divide out the rest over whatever unsecured debt you have. Put every extra penny toward this debt and get it out of the way. Take control of your spending and take control of your life. If you’re really interested in doing this, go to daveramsey.com.
