There are a number of good college student credit cards that don’t require a credit history and pay rewards. You may still be able to get one. Alternately, Capital One a choice for people with limited or no credit; you can even get a rewards card through them. Barring Cap One, you can try Orchard Bank.
I really which I could get the Citi mtvU student card. if you can get it, I definitely would. It pays 5% rewards at restaurants and for entertainment. The Citi Driver’s Edge for Students card is good too.

How about being different and NOT getting a credit card and saving your $$ to pay cash for certain items. Credit is and has been a “rock” around many folks necks for a number of years. Paying someone 12% to 25% for the privilage of buying an item is ridiculous. For more information on credit check out

Well, if you want my opinion and i’m sure you do.
I would stay away from credit cards and not worship at the alter of the almighty fico socre.
The only thing its good for is getting into debt.
Credit card companies make all the rules and can change the rules in the middle of the game. And it is a game! If you play the credit card game sooner or later you will lose. Once you start losing at the game its hard to get out of the game. High interest rates ( that the credit card companies can raise for what ever reason), outrageous late fees and over the limit fees.
Pay as you go and live on less than you make. If you do you will win with money.
Debt free is the way to be!
Borrower is definitely slave to the lender!

you could take out a small personal loan and pay it off in a few months and keep doing the same until you build credit. Also you could get a credit card with a small limit and use it for your everyday purchases and pay it off at the end of the month that way you do not pay interest and are building your credit.
