What happens if I decided not to activate credit card?
Credit Cardjagsfan asked:
I applied for a credit card from Credit One bank after I got an offer in the mail, but now that I got it I decided that I don’t want it or need it. Apart from that, the annual fee is ridiculous. They already sent me the statement for a $75 annual fee with a min payment of $20 even before the card itself arrived. Can I just not activate the card and ask them to close the account? I don’t need the card and that annual fee is ridiculous.

Card activation is just a security feature. The account is already open and active and will remain so until you close it. If you find the fee rediculous, why did you apply for it?

You still are responsible for the $75 as part of your agreement. Activation only gives you the ability to use the card. It’s a security measure. Instead of a credit card I suggest the Rush prepaid visa card. Why? Because there are no NSF, overdraft, or bounced check fees; you can pay bills or make purchases online or over the phone everywhere Visa debit cards are accepted. Visit… to apply.
