How do I settle my own credit card debt?

I attempted to settle my own credit card debt, but all credit cards refuse to settle. They would rather wait until I’m 90 days late, charge it off or sell it to an agency and have me settle with them.
Any clues on how I can buy my own debt at 12 cents on the dollar like the credit collection agencies do?

How can I bring my credit card payments into one?

cardiochick asked:

Between my husband and I we have like 6 credit cards. I want to know if there is a way to pay some of those off without consolidating. It is just the really sucky ones with the high interest rates. They are probably a total of $6000, but if I could just pay off a few this would help. I don’t think I could get another credit card and transfer the balances. Is it possible to get a small loan for this?

Prepaid Mastercard for Your Teen

Steven Walters asked:

It can be incredibly difficult to teach teens how to use credit. No parent wants to see their child in financial problems, but you want them to be able to use credit in a responsible fashion. How do you do this in a safe and affective way? We all know how easily you can fall into the buy it now and pay later trap. I know I’ve learned this lesson the hard way thorough personal experience and would do whatever I need to teach my children so they can avoid this.

A good option for teaching teens about responsible credit use ids through prepaid reloadable Mastercards. If you haven’t heard of these read on.

By using a prepaid reloadable debit card from Mastercard you can easily and effectively teach your teens how to use credit responsibly. They acquire the skills of budgeting and financial independence without the pitfalls of traditional credit cards. Once they have mastered the basics here they can start with their own credit cards and hopefully build a good credit history from the beginning.

These types of cards are especially good if your teen is about to leave for college and you’re looking for an easy way to make cash available to them within a monthly budget. Simply get them a reloadable Mastercard and transfer their budget for the month to it at the beginning of each month. Make sure that they know this is all they get and that they need to make it last. Of course, the cards also make it easy to get them cash in case of an emergency.

There are several important benefits that come with a reloadable Mastercard:

- Everyone can qualify so there is no need to worry about being declined. And there are no credit checks involved.

- Since the card is prepaid there is no need to worry about overspending or racking up large debts. This also avoids the high interest rates charged by the credit card companies, especially for new borrowers.

- Your money is safe if the card is stolen. Just report it to the card company and they can not only turn off the existing card, but also issue a replacement.

Of course there are also some disadvantages that come with reloadable prepaid Mastercards:

- The cards will charge you an application fee as well as a monthly fee for accessing the cash. Typically this can still be cheaper than what you would pay in interest on a traditional card though if you carry a balance.

- While ATM withdrawals are allowed you are still charged a fee for each withdrawal. This eats into your available cash, but the fees vary with each company so shop around for the best fee structures.

A quick search will how you that there are many companies now offering prepaid reloadable cards. You’ll get the best deal by doing some research to find out which ones have the best features and lowest costs for you. Make sure that the card you choose also allows for ATM withdrawals.

You can safely teach your children how to budget their money and get them started on the road to credit independence by using these reloadable Mastercards. I wish they would have been around when I was younger and I could have avoided the hard personal lesson. Give yourself the peace of mind knowing your child can manage their finances and that they are covered in case of emergency while away at college.

The Chase Perfectcard Mastercard - the Perfect Credit Card?

Jeremy Biberdorf asked:

With the Chase PerfectCard MasterCard you can earn rewards everywhere! You get cash back everywhere you use this credit card. At gas stations you save even more. For the first 90 days, you get 6% back on all gas purchases at any gas station. After that you get 3% cash back at gas stations. When you use the Chase PerfectCard everywhere else you get 1% cash back. Think of how much you’d save on your gas bill each year. It doesn’t make sense to use cash or your debit card.

Most gas credit cards are applicable at just one gas station. If you’re low on gas do you always want to go out of the way to a certain gas station? You could run out of gas driving across town to the other station. Or do you want to fill your wallet with a different credit card for each gas station? Your heavy wallet would weigh you down, nevermind the time it would take to search through those cards every day.

Another perk of this credit card is a 0% introductory rate on purchases and balance transfers for 12 months. For the first year there is no annual fee either. There is only a $19 annual fee if the cardholder doesn’t make 9 purchases in the prior year. So the Chase PerfectCard can earn rebates that aren’t eaten up by credit card fees.

There is a limit to the cash you can get back with this credit card. Each month you can get up to $15 back on gas. That works out to $500 in gas purchases for one month. That should cover the average person’s fuel expenses. Up to $15 of free gas in a month sounds like too good an offer to pass up. Plus there is no limit to amount of rebates that can be earned from other purchases.

This credit card makes cash back more convenient too. Rebates you earn are automatically credited toward future purchases. Other cards often mail gift certificates or checks, which just delays your money.

You don’t lose other platinum credit card features like purchase assurance, extended warranty protection, and travel accident insurance. The Chase PerfectCard MasterCard gives you everything and then some more. It lives up to its name.
